In Q4 2023, ABN buzzed with activity at the Secretariat where staff participated in various events to speak about ABN philosophy, influence aligned policies and form collaborations with like-minded actors. ABN Launches Year-Long Farmer-Managed Seed Systems Project
ABN, alongside partners from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, initiated a year-long advocacy project on regional farmer-managed seed systems, funded by BFTW. The project spans October 2023 to September 2024, focusing on influencing regional policies on Farmer-Managed Seed System.
Participation in the Global Landscapes Forum 2023 Hybrid Conference and “Celebrating Food and Seed Sovereignty in Kenya” event.
Dennis Mwange represented ABN, fostering collaborations and raising awareness on biodiversity conservation and climate initiatives.
Planning and Celebrations of 2nd Seed and Food Fair Harvest Event at National Museum of Kenya
The 2nd Indigenous Seed and Food Harvest Fair at the National Museum of Kenya brought together 700 partners and allies. Discussions on indigenous seeds, cooking competitions, and mentoring programs showcased the importance of preserving bio-cultural diversity. ABN actively engaged in discussions on agroecology, climate change resilience, and digital agriculture. Hannah Kigamba and Venter Mwongera were in attendance.

AFSA, through its Youth Platform, is gearing up for the 1000 African Youth Summit on Food Systems and Agroecology in Ethiopia, with Zambia and Kenya as backups. Abdel Karim represented ABN, highlighting the commitment to empowering African youth and advancing sustainable agroecological solutions.
